With a system of identifying individual athletic needs, RPA Training uses age-specific training principles, with clearly defined objectives, to develop HEALTHY and OUTSTANDING ATHLETES

Individualized Needs & Corrective Exercise

Significant structural imbalances and movement restrictions can exist in the developing athlete. These biomechanical limitations drastically distort motor learning, movement perception and body awareness when exposed to athletic demands. Limitations rob the body of efficiency and are very often hidden by those individuals who learn to compensate and substitute with incorrect movement patterns.

Flexibility & Mobility

Based on my own health challenges and years of rehabilitating injured athletes, joint stability and joint movement dominate the development of athleticism.

Primary centers of movement = the shoulder, hips, and ankles. Coincidentally these joints require the most stability. You must create the ability to be mobile and stable before adding power and strength.

Speed & Power

Creating a strategy of alternating and compounding between linear (straight away), lateral (side to side), and rotational agility, speed, and power exercises allows for a massive amount of neuro recruitment.

Strength

The traditional styles of strength training focus on stationary single-joint exercises using machines, or nautilus machines, and alternating chest, back, and leg days. This focus of the contemporary strength protocols incorporates whole body strengthening through a tri-set of work. This is also accomplished with the use of weight, not necessarily

Endurance

The use of sport-appropriate conditioning systems is necessary to build and maintain prolonged high-performance output.

Seasonal Training Cycles

Post-Season

Appropriate Post-Season Recovery is essential to prevent the effects of deconditioning and restore proper body function. The focus of post-season training is to identify and correct biomechanical faults, promote proper tissue recovery, and prepare for off-season training..

Off-Season

The cycle of Off-Season Training addresses overall athlete development using the RPA Training methodology.

Pre-Season

Once the off-season gain is made, the Pre-Season training concepts allow for optimizing sport-specific demands including power, speed, and endurance. The Pre-Season is an ideal time to set up individualized recovery protocols and injury reduction techniques ideal for any athlete to optimize their performance for the upcoming season.

In-Season

A proper In-Season Training plan has multiple dimensions. It is the most important time of year to train. Many sports programs around the nation either stop lifting at the beginning of the season or do not place any emphasis on it at all. The primary goal of an in-season resistance program is to further increase or at least maintain power, strength and endurance.
